Welcome Rodrigo Menafra to the FORCE team
FORCE is delighted to welcome Rodrigo Menafra as its Director of Strategic Operations!
This new role will help FORCE plan, coordinate, and deliver key projects as tidal energy activity grows in Nova Scotia. FORCE is working to advance tidal energy responsibly through planning, robust science, and strong relationships among governments, Rights Holders, communities, researchers, and industry.
Rodrigo’s role is about helping that work come together. He will support major projects, connect work across the organization and with partners, and ensure FORCE’s operations are well organized and aligned with its public responsibilities, while helping move tidal energy forward responsibly in the Bay of Fundy.
Rodrigo brings more than 25 years of experience in coastal and ocean research, governance, operations, and partnership development. He joins FORCE from the Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation, where he served as Associate Director. He previously held senior leadership roles with the Marine Environmental Observation, Prediction and Response Network, including Managing Director and Manager of Programs and Partnerships.
Throughout his career, Rodrigo has helped lead complex, multi-partner ocean initiatives involving researchers, governments, funders, community organizations, and the private sector. He has also worked with the Offshore Energy Research Association, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Saint Mary’s University, CPAWS Nova Scotia, and coastal management initiatives in Canada and internationally.
“Tidal energy is an important opportunity for Atlantic Canda, and it requires careful coordination, strong partnerships, and a clear focus on responsible development,” says Rodrigo. “I’m excited to join FORCE to help turn great ideas into well-managed projects.”
Rodrigo holds a Master of Marine Management from Dalhousie University and degrees in Marine Biology and Ecology from the Florida Institute of Technology.
“Rodrigo brings exactly the kind of experience FORCE needs as our work continues to grow,” says Lindsay Bennett, FORCE’s Executive Director. “He understands ocean science, project delivery, partnerships, and public accountability. His leadership will help us stay focused on our core mandate: advancing tidal energy responsibly, in a way that supports Nova Scotia, Canada, and the communities connected to the Bay of Fundy.”
Welcome, Rodrigo – we’re very glad to have you on the team.
