Submarine Cable Lay Rehearsal August 19-20

FORCE continues to plan for the future submarine cable installation at our subsea site in the Minas Passage, Bay of Fundy.

As the next step in this process, our cable contractor IT International Telecom will rehearse vessel maneuvering and station keeping between shore and the turbine test area August 19 – 20, 2012.

These trials will use both the vessels and people we expect will perform the future cable lay, including a barge and two Z-drive tugs of 4000 horsepower; IT will lead the navigation and operation.

The proposed work plan includes the rehearsal of station keeping near the shore on day one (Sunday), and rehearsal of station keeping along the proposed cable route on day two (Monday). Activities may change during operations pending weather conditions and other variables.

This will be a critical learning exercise, and will inform the actual cable deployment procedure in future.
